No YMSG access due to protocol change. On the login screen, click "Chat Protocol" until the letters beside it read YCHT or CHAT2.
YahELite Fix

11th January 2004

There has been a change to the YMSG authentication. In order to login on YMSG, you need the Beta.
If you do not wish to use the beta, use the info below from 9th January 2004 to login.

09th January 2004

Possible YMSG issue.
On the second login screen, change protocol to YCHT instead.
A good server is jcs.chat.yahoo.com and port 8001.

New Fix: 27th December 2003

1. Log in as usual on the first login screen.
2. On the second login screen, Make sure More Options is selected and enter the correct server for the correct protocol:
YCHT: jcs1.chat.dcn.yahoo.com
CHAT2: dcs4.chat.dcn.yahoo.com
YMSG: cs1.msg.dcn.yahoo.com
Fix
3. Proceed to login as usual.
Thanks to all those who worked out the new servers Fixed in YahELite 238

Update: No Problems

The Authentication was re written, and so there are no problems with YahELite. Get the latest at:
YahELite

New Fix: 25th September 2003

Yahoo! implemented a new authentication mechanism in their messenger software. Until the codes are cracked and the authors can implement it, all 3rd Party Clients will cease to work on YMSG protocols.
For YahELite therefore, use the YCHT or CHAT2 protocol.

New Fix: 24th September 2003

YMSG9 protocol has been discontinued by Yahoo!.
Tell YahELite on the second logon screen to use another protocol.
YahELite Fix
Note:If you have auto connect, click the "Offline" button lower right after Yahoo! tells you you're using an old client. Then do as it says above, changes will be saved.

YahELite 240 and previous

Yahoo! have changed a lot of stuff recently, they have done away with a lot of the HTTP (webpage) buddy management services such as remove yourself from another list, add a friend and remove a friend, they can only be done through the YMSG protocols now. YahELite depends on the HTTP methods for this service, and is being given random replies from the Yahoo! servers, sometimes it works, others it gets not found.

After playing around with YahELite, I came up with this fix to log in YahELite. It appears when I was asleep (time differences!!!!) MD had already told some people how they could fix it, and once I had made and released this page, I was told of this - but I did actually come accross the fix by myself! Here is my version in pics:

YahELite Beta: A Fixed YahELite

YahELite is now working as expected!
Get it here!

How To Fix

Click 'Login'
(1) CLICK "Login >>>"

Ignore the bleah error message
(2) Ignore the "bleah..." message.

(3) Close the Yahoo! Chat Login window.

Press the 'Offline' button
(4)
Press the "Offline" button  on the lower right of your screen.

Type your ID in the top box
(5) Type your ID in the top box.

(6) Now press "Chat protocol" until it reads CHAT2 or YCHT.  This fix doesn't work for YMSG9 or YMSG10

(7) NOW press and hold down CTRL on your keyboard and click the "Chat >>>" button.
If you don't hold down ctrl, you will get an error. This is because YahELite is in a state such that it doesn't know your aliases, and thinks your trying an invalid one. Holding down ctrl solves this.

You Should now be in Chat!
If you have any problems, check you are using all the right steps above, and then post on the forum.

Just To Clarify

I did not steal this fix from anyone. Does it look like any other?
Sometime on Wed/Thur MasterDeep the author of YahELite told a room of users about this fix. On Thur I discovered the fix for myself and made this page.
It has however been suggested I have stolen this info from a 3rd party. Please note, they are flattering themselves.
The first fix for YahELite last year when it wouldn't login at all came from Carbonize. I then developed on this information a program, and offered the manual instructions as pictures too, with all credit going to carbonize. As time went on, people copied the fix and claimed it was all their ideas etc...
These people should realise this is a totally new fix.
They should also realise I had a set of YahELite tutorials before they even started chatting in Yahoo!.
